What makes the economy of Punjab different from the rest of the country is that Rural Poverty in Punjab is lower than Urban Poverty. Punjab’ the breadbasket of India’ accounts for 19% (Wheat), 11% (Rice), 5% (Cotton), 10%(Milk),20%(Honey) & 48% (Mushroom) grown in the country. The Peasantry in Punjab has always been the backbone of the economy of Punjab. The yearlong Farm Agitation has brought a far-reaching change in the politics of Punjab. Punjab, the land of Martyrs like Lal Lajpat Rai & Bhagat Singh, has always been famous for its JAWAN (Soldiers) & KISHAN(Peasantry), however being the epicenter of recent Farm Agitation, it remained in National Headline, since the beginning of Farm agitation in November 2020.
